The Sower Went Out to Sow
This past Sunday Mike Black spoke a significant word that I believe was timely and appropriate for us as a church. He had a very insightful approach to the parable of the sower found in Matthew 13 (take some time and read the parable- Matthew 13.1-9, 18-23).
And He (Jesus) spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow (Matthew 13:3 (NASB95).
The sower went out to sow the seed that He had been given. God has given to us seed to sow as well. Many have seed, but they never go forth. God has given His seed to us so we can take it to places where people need what the seed has to offer. The seed that we carry has great value and is full of destiny for those that receive it.
In the parable of the sower, the sower knows that the seed he has to offer will make a difference in people's lives. The seed of God's Word and the message of His Kingdom has great potential and can create opportunities for people to step into their God-given destiny.
When we sow seed, whether that is our time, prayers, or finances, it produces a spiritual connection with those who receive that seed. When we as a church sow seed into our ministry in Guatemala, it produces a spiritual connection between us and the people in Guatemala. In 2 Corinthians 8, the churches in Macedonia took up an offering for the believers that were suffering in Jerusalem. As Paul carried this seed to Jerusalem, it produced a spiritual connection, a bond in the spirit.
As God's people we have a great opportunity to sow our lives for others and for the glory of God's Kingdom. Whether we carry the seed personally to those in need, or send it with others, we reap eternal rewards. As you sow your seed, it connects you with people and nations.
Our seed, whether our time, prayers, or finances, can have great eternal benefit for others. Never underestimate the value and significance of your seed.
