Pastor Tony presented a very interesting and informative word this past Sunday on righteousness. I believe this is a word worth listening to again. Pastor Tony’s First Position, or starting point, is a great picture that we all need to remember. You and I are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Our identity and understanding of God and who we are as God’s children begins here. There is great security in knowing that we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. In this place we never question God’s love for us or His acceptance of us.
When I sin, that is not the real me. The real me is righteousness, and I desire to pursue righteousness. Our goal in our Christian life is not just to “not do” bad things, but to pursue God with all our heart, soul, and strength.
When we put ourselves in the First Position, we see ourselves as dead to sin and alive to God. We no longer present our “members” as instruments of sin.
So ... get yourself in the First Position and pursue righteousness from the position of righteousness!
