This past Sunday we got a full dose of worship and the word from a youth's perspective. Young people may have been leading worship and delivering the sermon, but the meeting was filled with substance and profound truth.
Some highlights I noted as I was listening to the sermon this past Sunday …
Morgan Wood:
God did not make us for ministry, but for love.
Peter went to the temple to pray. Out of a place of communion in his heart with God, healing was released and a lame man jumped up and walked (Act 3.1-10).
God wants us to walk with Him and not ahead of Him.
Our job is not to keep ourselves out of sin, but to keep ourselves in love (with God) (Jude 20).
Work with God rather than expecting Him to work for you.
Josh Fetterman:
Each choice that we make affects who we are and sets the course of our lives.
We will get out of our relationship with God what we put into it.
Through right choices we can reap great rewards spiritually.
We must learn to stand up for what we believe.
We need to help bring God's conviction to the world, not condemn people.
Bobby Abbott:
In Ephesus 1.16-23 Paul is praying for the believers at Ephesus …
Jesus is interceding for us at the right hand of the Father
We are called to intercede for others
God, give us a spirit of wisdom and revelation
Release visions and dreams
Open our hearts to know you better
Equip us to make better life decisions
Free us from ignorance and misinformation
Titus 2.11-14
God's salvation releases the hope of eternal life
We will do greater works than Jesus did
God has called us into something great
We are called to experience the fullness of God
These were just a few of the many ideas and truths presented on Sunday. God never intended for the generations to be separate and at odds with one another. He is building a culture of honor here at COTRM where we are learning to value one another regardless of age, sex, race, nationality, economics, or any of the other artificial barriers that the enemy has used to separate the generations.
We are ONE body in Christ!
What did you take away from Sunday?
