Pastor Tony challenged us Sunday with the question, "Why Worship?" As he shared Sunday, there are many reasons for worship, not the least of which is that God is worthy of our worship. As King David said ...
“I love You, O Lord, my strength.” The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, And I am saved from my enemies (Psa 18.1-3).
Worship is a form of spiritual warfare and can change the spiritual atmosphere around us ...
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand (Psa 149.6)
In 2 Kings 3, the king of Israel and the king of Judah seek the prophet Elisha for counsel. Elisha has an interesting response to their request ...
“But now bring me a minstrel.” And it came about, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him (2 Ki 3.15).
Elisha requested a musician to play and as he played and Elisha focused his heart on God, the Lord came to Elisha and spoke to him a word for the two kings. As Pastor Tony shared on Sunday, worship stirs up the activity of God. Worship helps to set up an atmosphere where we can hear the voice of God.
There are many reasons to worship our God, but let me come back to what I said in the beginning- we worship God because He is worthy of our worship!
