Press On!
As we dig deeper into Philippians, God is releasing wisdom and insight into the hearts of those who are ready to count all things in this life as "loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus." Paul was certainly a man who had an incredible passion to know God, and yet he recognized that he had to continue to "press on" so that he would be able to "lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of for Christ Jesus." Can we do any less if we want to experience the incredible life and provision of God that Paul had? What has God been speaking to you as we have been studying through Philippians? We would like to hear your comments.

My favorite verses in the book of Philippians are in chapter 3:13-14: "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have attained this. Instead I am single-minded: Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead, with this goal in mind, I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." (NET) Dwelling on the past in any aspect of life only brings bondage and chains that will hold you down and keep you from going forward. We can't go back and change the past but with God's help you CAN forget the past, break off those chains and move forward. It's a matter of where we set our eyes. Do we want to keep watching that old rerun movie of mistakes that the devil keeps replaying in our mind or do we want to set our eyes and mind on the Perfect One, who wants to give us fresh, first run, movie premiers starring us?
ReplyDeleteVerse 3:13: Paul says forgetting what is behind. He has just told all he's done that is good. Paul is saying, don't rest on your laurels. Forget those good things and keep serving, maybe in a new area, but keep working. God's retirement plan doesn't involve sitting down. If you're going to sit down and say "I've done my turn," He might as well take you home. Forget what you've done already....keep working. Sandy Hancock
