Should God Lie?

“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent; has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Num 23:19)

Recently I have re-memorized the above verse. Man was made in the image of God, but God is all together different than man. He is God, and “God is not a man, that He should lie.” We live in a serious time and it is so important that we have absolute confidence in God and in His Word. “Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He Spoken, and will He not make it good?” As the world around us is shaken, we must tenaciously hold onto the goodness and greatness of God.

We must not allow our belief and confidence in God be smothered by personal preoccupations. To survive in the day and age in which we live, we must keep God as first and foremost in our hearts. We must keep our focus pure from unnecessary distractions.

We are entering a season in which we must be watchful and alert. Two thousand years ago Jesus faced His crucifixion. He asked the disciples to “keep watch with Me” (Matt 26;38), but then fell asleep. Again, He asked them to “keep watching and praying” (Matt 26:41), but again they fell asleep.

We are in another season when watching and praying is very important. It is not a season to be asleep spiritually. Prayer holds the key to Gods’ power.

Together we can be an effective force in bringing God’s kingdom here to earth as it is in heaven.

Let’s provoke one another to keep watching and praying!
