Feasible Fast

Jehoshaphat, King of Judah, was facing the attack of a large and well equipped enemy. In 2 Chronicles 20:3, it says that Jehoshaphat “was afraid and turned his attention to seek the Lord and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.”

Have you ever felt afraid or so overwhelmed with life that you did not know what to do or where to turn? It was just such a time in Jehoshaphat’s life. What did he do? He “turned his attention to seek the Lord and proclaimed a fast.”

As a nation we are facing some very difficult times. Morally and financially we are in great trouble. The problems of our nation are directly affecting many families. Many are afraid for the future.

As Jehoshaphat did, it is time to turn our “attention to seek the Lord.” In response to this time of trouble the Elders and Pastors of COTRM are calling for a church-wide season of prayer and fasting.

The Elders are calling the church to a 21 day season of prayer and fasting running from October 1st to October 21st. We are asking everyone in the church who is able to fast up until 12 noon during this season of fasting.

If you have never fasted before, we are encouraging you to participate in this season of prayer and fasting. Fasting until 12 noon each day should be within the reach of every member of the church. If you are on medication or have a physical condition that makes it impossible for you to fast food, then please consider fasting something else in your life such as TV, entertainment, etc.

Above all, we encourage everyone to take extra time to pray during this season.

May God richly bless you and extend His favor toward you during this season.

  1. This story of Jehoshaphat is my favorite story in the old testament if not the whole bible. Anyone remember the Gosple Bill show? They had a sketch depicting this story and it used to bring a tear to my eyes everytime I saw it. Oops, there goes another corner of my man card!
