Sigh! Groan!

As we talked about this past Sunday, the God of all Creation is interested in us to such a degree that He even hears our sighs and our groans.

Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my groaning. (Psalm 5:1)

As you read further in Psalm 5, it is clear that King David is crying out to God with all of his heart. There is great need in his life and he turns to God in prayer for answers. We ended this past Sunday with a thought from Billy Graham-

Heaven is full of answers to prayer for which no one bothered to ask.

Wow! That is a sobering thought. What I have I not prayed about? What have I left in the store house of heaven that God would have made available to me if I had taken time to seek His face?

Prayer is two-way communication to God. Absolutely amazing! You and I have access to the God of Creation. There is no way the average citizen of the United States would be able to pick up a telephone and talk to the President, but you can practice the discipline of prayer and talk to God.

Sunday I put forth a challenge to the church. Are we ready and willing to pray? Certainly there is no better time than the present to learn how to pray and build our relationship with God. The needs around us are great and will only be increasing.

My challenge is this: Are you willing to commit to pray 1/2 hour a day, five days a week. That is a total of 2 1/2 hours of prayer out of a total 168 hours available to us each week. That is less than 1.5% of the time you and I have available every week of our lives.

God is waiting for our call.

Have a great day,
