We have very exciting developments to report regarding Haiti Relief.
Through the direct actions of Dr. Deborah Hamilton (long standing member of COTRI; in addition to serving in Training, Scheduling and Leadership Training for School of Acts, Deb is very active and effective in coordination and administration of disaster relief efforts) a connection was established between Dr. Jay Threadgill in Haiti and Mr. David Perez, CEO of '2 Life 18 Foundation Inc.', a very successful businessman and extremely generous philanthropist. Mr. Perez called me (Dr. Kennedy) as Jay Threadgill's Pastor, to be assured that Fishers of Men in Haiti is indeed good, fertile soil in which to sew his philanthropic energies. As a result, Mr. Perez and Jay are now engaged in a joint effort to bring significant, effective relief to the suffering nation of Haiti.
The following is a letter from Mr. Perez regarding the tangible needs for Haiti.
Dear Dr. Kennedy,
Thank you so much for your time and input. Here is what we need - we can arrange to fly everything in from any major airport. Your interest and support is much appreciated at what ever level possible.
- 15 to 35 KW Generators - Diesel or Gas (Qty 50)
- Water Purification Systems (Qty 100)
- Water Drilling rigs to a depth of 120 feet (Qty 2)
- Satellite phones (Qty 10)
Financial Aid for purchasing fuel on the ground for getting the generators fired up and serving hot meals and running the water purification treatment systems. (Qty as much as possible)
My foundation is working a major relief effort in Haiti. Millions of dollars of aid have already been donated to me and I am coordinating the delivery of medicine, water and food. Their most critical need includes thousands of tents and cots and other items like blankets, clothing and shoes and, sadly, body bags. So far no relief has been provided.
See the link on our web site http://2life18.org/ of what they need and who we are helping on the ground. (Of course you can also give directly through the North Church or COTRI websites; we will in turn work with Mr. Perez to secure the needed supplies.)
I am reaching out to everyone I know hoping that maybe some of your clients, sponsors or contacts can donate goods we can make arrangements to transport them to Haiti by air. We have access to Jumbo Jets and other large transport and evacuation planes.
In addition we need donations (USD) to drill water wells and deliver fuel and generators. We only a few days left to help rescue survivors, we have doctors and nurses we are transporting everyday. We need all the help we can get this Crisis is much worse than Katrina. It's estimated over 200,000 dead and almost one million injured. It's a real tragedy and we can, with God's blessings, help as many people as possible. Please don't sit back but put your fingers on your keyboard and pick up your phone and try and make things happened. You will be forever blessed.
We are currently flying any volunteer medical personnel (doctors, nurses), construction workers, plumbers and those with experience digging wells to the Dominican Republic (and then by truck/van to Port Au Prince, Haiti) for assistance with relief efforts.
Seeking Donations:
