What do these words have in common?
Judgment, Darkening, Focus, Mystery, Maturing, Advance
These words were the words given by our Ministry Team members when I asked them to describe 2010 prophetically in one word. It would be interesting to explore the picture behind each of these words for the year ahead.
As each team member shared what they saw for 2010, a prophetic picture began to develop. There were a number of important elements in this picture ...
*prepare people in the Word of God so they can stand
*build the small things daily and the result will be a cathedral
*now is the time to walk in an inward peace
*as we do what God says, God will bring increase
*every person has a part to play, no one is insignificant
As we dig deeper into 2010 I want my life and our church to be a force for reformation in our culture and a prophetic voice in our generation. In order for this to happen we must be prepared for the days ahead. There is certainly no better ways to prepare than through the reading and study of God's Word, prayer, and fasting. This is why I have challenged the church to read at least five chapters of the Bible each week and to fast one day per week.
To date we have 22 people who have committed to read five chapters in the Bible per week and 16 who have committed to fast one day per week. There are 23 distinct members in these two groups, only eight of which are men.
Church, we must, we can, do much better than this if we are going to prepare ourselves for the days ahead. I would love to see 100% of our people committed to reading five chapters of the Bible per week. I believe this is a commitment anyone can make. I know fasting is a little more difficult for people, but I believe we can significantly increase the size of this group as well.
Let me encourage us again to ... TAKE THE CHALLENGE!
Go to the church Home Page, click on the Take The Challenge! button, and join one or both of the challenge groups. You can join one group without joining the other one. If you are not computer literate, call the church office and Esther will gladly sign you up to one or both of the groups.
The people in Haiti had no idea that their country and their lives were about to be devastated by an earthquake. Likewise, we do not know what tomorrow holds for us. How will we walk out our remaining days on this earth? How will we prepare ourselves, as David did, to "serve the purpose of God in his own generation" (Acts 13:36). What purpose does God have for your life?
