Adam Failed, Jesus Prevailed!

Recently I saw a sign outside of a local college that caught my attention:

Life has no remote- get up and change yourself.

Now I know there is only so much that we can do to change who we are as people. Many of us have made New Year's resolutions that failed on January 2nd. However, in Christ there is much hope for each and everyone of us ...

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come  (2 Cor 5:17).

God sent Jesus Christ to become a man as we are men (and women). As a man Jesus came to fulfill the original purpose God had for Adam. Adam failed, but Jesus came to show us who we can be in Christ. Consider this passage of scripture in Paul's letter to the church at Corinth ...

20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.
21 For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive (1 Cor 15:20–22).

This verse gives us great hope. Through Adam came death, but through Jesus Christ came the resurrection from the dead. The Bible says goes on to say in Ephesians 2:6 that He "raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus." In James 2:5 James tell us that "God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him." As believers and followers of Jesus Christ we are called to ...

-reign with Christ from heavenly places
-co-labor with Christ to bring about His Kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven

The Lord is inviting us deeper and higher in our relationship with Him. He is calling us to a lifestyle that He modeled for us. He demonstrated for us what God originally had for Adam.

Now that should give us hope. Where Adam failed, Jesus Christ prevailed! We have been appointed by God and called into a dynamic relationship with Him where Jesus has modeled for us the life and power of God that we have been given. We are indeed, "a new creature (in Christ); the old things passed away; behold, new things have come" (2 Cor 5:17).

Let us get out there and be the new men and women God has created us to be. World, step aside, the sons and daughters of God are here!
