Abundant Life!

Jesus said something very significant in John chapter 10 …

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (Jn 10.10).
Jesus Christ came, suffered, died on the cross, was resurrected, and ascended into heaven, so you and I could possess His life and blessings without measure. That is what the word abundant means, without measure, overflowing, in great abundance. Wow, that is a lot of life!

In Paul's second letter to the church at Corinth, he says …

"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come" (2 Cor 5.17)

The old has passed away; we are new creatures in Christ Jesus; new things have come. In Paul's letter to the the church in Ephesus, he instructs us to lay aside the old man and put on the new self …

"and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth" (Eph 4.24).

The new self that we are to put on is created in righteousness and holiness. In Christ we have incredible hope. As Steve Backlund says in his book, Igniting Faith in 40 Days, "true faith is built on hope; a confident, optimistic expectation that good is coming based on God's promises and a revelation of His goodness."

As Peter says, we "have been given … exceedingly great and precious promises" (2 Pet 1.4).

We have much to be grateful for and much to thank God for. During this 40 Day Season of Empowered Words, take hope. God has made the riches of heaven available to you. Walk in all of God's abundant life!
