A number of points that Stuart made spoke clearly to my heart. We serve a good and faithful God who wants to communicate with us. It is through prayer and His Word that we get to know God. The more we talk with God about how great He is, the more convinced we become of the greatness and goodness of God. The Bible becomes a massive source of thoughts and ideas that we can use to dialogue with God about who He is. This will build our faith and confidence in God.
God did not send His Son to suffer an awful death simply so we can repent and have the assurance that we are going to heaven. He sent His Son so that we can have a relationship with Him. That relationship begins with repentance, but it does not end there. Jesus died so we can live for Him in the here and now and be a willing vessel in His hands to build His Kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven.
As Stuart said on Sunday, "God moves towards us every time we pray." Whether we feel it or not, God hears and responds to our prayers.
Keep praying!
