We certainly live in a very blessed country. Despite the challenges we face both spiritually and in the natural, God has richly blessed us as a nation. Thanksgiving is a unique American holiday when we give thanks to God for His provision and for our prosperity.
I hear people say things like, "I am so thankful for my house," or "I am very thankful for my family." These are all good things to be thankful for, but the question I would ask is, "Who are we thankful to?"
I am thankful for my house, my car, and my family. But more significantly, I am thankful to God for my house, car, and family. It is important, especially for Christian's, that we are not just thankful for something, but that we are thankful to God for His many blessing and provision.
As you sit down for a Thanksgiving dinner this year take a moment not just to be thankful, but make God the object of your thanksgiving.
God, we are so thankful to You for your incredible blessings this past year!
May you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday,
Pastor Gary and the staff at COTRM
