Youth Sunday

This past Sunday the youth did an amazing job as they ministered to the church. Nathan White and the youth worship team definitely provided an opportunity for us to connect with God in worship. There was a strong sense of God's presence during worship. Three youth did a great job delivering the word of God. Each one was unique and expressed a different aspect of God's heart. I would encourage you to click on the links below to listen to what they had to say. I have summarized some of their main points below:

Josh Fetterman ...

Josh talked about the importance and power of prayer and encouraged us to be mindful of God throughout our day and to take time to talk to Him.

He presented three points on prayer:

1. Prayer is Personal
2. Prayer is Powerful
3. Prayer is Pre-requisite

" ... pray without ceasing" (1 Thess 5:17)

Jubilee Adkins ...

Jubilee talked about our identity as members of the Body of Christ. In an ever changing world people struggle to know who they are. God has given to each of us a great inheritance (Eph 1:13-14). As Jubilee said, "We are all inheritance holders."  We are also members of God's household:

"So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household" (Eph 1:19).

Remember, we live in the world but we are citizens of heaven.

Ryan Cannon ...

Ryan titled his talk, "The Bible Says the Darnedest Things." There are many Bible verse that can be difficult to understand and it is not always easy to know how to apply them to our lives. Ryan made several points concerning the Bible, two of which are:

1. Do not read one verse and take it literally. In other words, examine the context of the verse to understand what it means.

2. Do not back off because of the scary verses. God's Word is a "two-edged sword" we use in our daily lives, but sometimes we cut ourselves on it. In other words God will use His Word in our lives to minister to us, and sometimes it may hurt as we deal with the truth. But God is good!

"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work" (2 Tim 3:16-17).

God has given us as a church some incredible your. As Pastor Tony concluded the service, "It matters that we pass on what God has given us to the next generation."

"Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord. “He will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and smite the land with a curse” (Mal 4:5-6)
