Lights, Film, Action!

Many movies today are filled with incredible action scenes. Special affects bring large battle scenes to life and allow heroes and heroines to accomplish incredible feats of strength and bravery.

As exciting as these movies are and as real as these action scenes appear, the reality is not what it appears on the big screen. Perhaps these types of movies are so popular because people are bored with life and are looking for excitement.

The Christian life may not at first glance compare to the excitement of today’s action movies, yet in reality God is calling us to a life of action with Him.

When I read the Bible, I like to look for action words and circle or underline them. God has called us to partner with Him in building His kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven.

As I was reading Psalm 105:1-5, I underlined a number of action words. Words that call us to action in our walk with God:

Give thanks to the Lord
Call upon His name
Make known His deeds
Sing praises to Him
Speak of His wonders
Seek the Lord and His strength
Seek His face continually
Remember His wonders

God is calling us into an active and exciting walk with Him. Unlike the special affects we see in the movies, the actions that God is calling us into are very real. Many times they will take courage to walk them out in our lives.

Through the work and power of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we will experience God’s “special affects.” His “special affects” are not an illusion, like in the movies, but they are very real.

Enter with me into the action of living your life fully for the purposes of God.

Give, call, sing, speak, seek, and remember!
