For many today their religion has become little more than a consumer preference. What about your faith?
When Saul had an encounter with the Holy Spirit on the Road to Damascus he knew that his life had been changed forever. The transformation that he experienced was not just a preference, but a new life and a new way of living.
Immediately after this encounter, Saul began to “proclaim Jesus” (Acts 9:20). He recognized urgency in God’s call on his life.
When Jesus called Peter and Andrew and James and John to follow Him, the Bible says that they “immediately” left what they were doing to follow Him. There was an urgency that these men recognized in Jesus’ call on their lives.
Jesus is calling His people today and there is the urgency in His call as there was 2000 years ago. In 1 Peter 3:20 it says that “the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah during the construction of the ark.” God was patient because He did not want any man to perish. Yet the flood still came and many were caught by surprise and drowned.
God’s heart is still that none would perish but He is not going to wait forever.
Do we hear Jesus saying, “Follow Me!” and the urgency in His voice?
