Mohammed Ali would often say, “Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.” As a result many considered him to be an arrogant man.
Whether Mohammed Ali was arrogant or not, I do not know. I believe, however, when he went into the ring he went in with the attitude that he was going to win and not lose. Mohammed Ali did not become the great fighter he was in the ring, he became the best he could be during his many hours of preparation and practice.
When Jesus went into the wilderness to face the temptations of the enemy he did not go there to lose, He went there to win and be an overcomer. When He encountered the enemy He had prepared His heart and mind with the Word of God. He countered the temptations of the enemy by quoting the Word of God. He resisted the lies with truth.
“For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren” (Rom8:29).
You and I have been pre-destined to be like Jesus. God is not looking for any to perish, but for all to be successful like Jesus was! The Bible says that Jesus, “kept increasing in wisdom and statue” (Luke 2:52). God is calling us and enabling us to increase in wisdom and stature so we can fulfill God’s eternal destiny for our lives. We have been pre-destined to be successful like Jesus was.
I like what Bill Basansky says, “God is preparing us for what He has prepared us for.” We are being prepared on a daily basis to be the men and women God has called us to be.
Mohammed Ali went into the ring to win. Jesus Christ went into the wilderness knowing He would face a battle, but He went into win, not to lose. We are pre-destined to be “conformed” to the image of Jesus Christ. We are called to win and not to lose, to be successful as Jesus was.
As Mohammed Ali said, “Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.” You and I are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. Get in the “ring” and win the fight!
In Philippians chapter three Paul encourages us to reach forward and lay hold of that for which we were laid hold of by Christ. Jesus laid hold of Paul to take the gospel to the gentiles. He was told this when he first believed. We each have been laid hold of by Christ for a purpose. We should seek God to know what that purpose is and then reach out and lay hold of it. That purpose may change as we travel through life. That is why we need to hear from God each day, follow His leading and push through whatever stands in the way. God is our Help.
