John Paul Jackson, at the conference this past weekend, talked about how unbelief sucks faith out of us.
In Luke 5:16-25 there is a story of a man who was paralyzed. Several men were carrying him to Jesus to pray for him but the crowd was so great they could not get near Jesus. Not being discouraged, they climbed up on the roof of the house that Jesus was ministering in. After digging a hole in the roof, they lowered the paralyzed man down through the roof and right in front of Jesus.
Jesus, rather than being upset with them for interrupting his ministry and seeing the faith of the men who lowered the paralytic through the roof, healed the man.
Jesus saw the corporate faith of the men who were trying to help their friend. There is something significant about the church gathering together with a heart of faith that moves the heart of God.
In Mark 6:5-6, we see that Jesus was unable to perform many miracles in His own home town because of the unbelief of the people.
There is a corporate nature to the Body of Christ. As the church gathers together, our combined faith can move the hand of God to work miracles. In services when God is moving, it is easy to become observers, when we need to remain involved and corporately exercise our faith.
I do not want COTRM to be a place where God cannot do many miracles because of our unbelief. My prayer is that each time we gather together on Sunday mornings or in our House Churches we would Encounter God. As we press into God together and together exercise our corporate faith, we are going to see God move in mighty ways in people's lives.
We serve a wonderful, powerful, miracle working God.
