This past week Pastor Tony had an encouraging and yet challenging word for the church. If you were not able to be here on Sunday, let me encourage you to listen to his sermon online (click here to listen).
Pastor Tony shared from Hebrews 3:7-15. He discussed how an unrepentant heart leads to rebellion and how unbelief and rebellion lead to a hard heart. He went on to make this profound observation...
Unrepentance is me saying:
I do not want to do what God is asking me to do.
Unbelief is me saying:
I do not believe God's Word works.
God's Word is awesome for hard hearts (Jeremiah 23:29). His Word is ALIVE and brings change into our hearts (John 10:10).
"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).
When God's Word pierces our hearts we have a choice to make. We can run towards God or we can run from God. Without a revelation of how much God loves us, our reaction will be to draw back when His Word pierces our hearts. The way we respond to God's Word tells us something about the condition of our heart.
God delights to show mercy.
Run to God, run to God, run to God!
